The #AIShadeTreeMechanic School

Learn to build practical, economical, reliable AI systems that work.

The "Build-a-Bot" Series

Take advantage of this one-on-one or small group learning format. We'll schedule three nights for your class series and go from there.

  • What This Class Is
  • Who This is For
  • What You'll Do-and Build
  • How it Works
What This Class Is
  • A hands-on class about building reliable, controllable GPTs
  • Focused on structure, constraints, and predictable behavior
  • You work live with models; learning happens through use and failure
  • Plain English, no hype, repeatable methods you can reuse
  • Emphasis on systems that work, not clever prompts
Who This is For
  • People already using AI who want it to behave better
  • Comms, marketing, organizing, data, and analysis professionals
  • Anyone frustrated by fragile prompts and inconsistent outputs
  • Beginners welcome; no gatekeeping, no jargon
  • Best fit if you learn by doing and debugging
What You'll Do-and Build
  • Learn how models behave and fail
  • Use questions, not just prompts, to expand and refine thinking
  • Tighten constraints to gain control over outputs
  • Build three working bots:
  • "CopyBot" – reproduces your writing patterns from examples
  • "DataMaid"– cleans and validates data with fixed routines
  • "BlueSky Machine" – brainstorm and test your ideas with guardrails
  • All work is done live using your own material (BYOD)
How it Works
  • Small cohorts: 1:1 or groups up to five
  • Weekly 90-minute sessions for three weeks
  • Each session: lesson → lab → wrap
  • You leave with:
  • Three reusable bots
  • Fixed output shapes and copy-paste prompts
  • Checklists, schemas, and routines
  • A repeatable way to build the next bot
  • This starts after experimentation and before automation

Classes start January 20

Upcoming Classes

Build a Bot

The anchor program, how to build GPTs that help you write, clean and analyze data.

Upcoming Classes

Voter Targeting and Generative Persuasion

Build a lightweight targeting matrix, a message-by-segment testing loop and a generative persuasion kit that is safe enough for campaigns without million-dollar budgets.

Pricing

  • One on One or Small Group (≤5):
  • $599/person (early cohort; list $795)
